The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

Wow!
I loved this book. I read this book at just the right time. By the end of the book I was wanting to live my life to the fullest. This book made me feel seen and validated. I loved how easy it was to read and comprehend.
I thought the messages behind it was very well put together. It talks about depression is such a well rounded way.
It also made me think about all my different lives I could’ve chose to live. It made me appreciate the life I am living right now. This book made me want to go out and be nice to everyone I meet. This book made me want to say hello to the neighbors and talk to them for awhile. This book made me want to take that extra time out of my day to be nicer to people.
This book has an overwhelming amount of moments throughout it that made me look at my life and be thankful for who I am and what I am doing.
I love how it shows that no matter what life you are living, it’s up to you to make the most of it.
I also love how it shows how powerful just one decision that could feel small in the moment really is. How meeting just one person or choosing to commit to a hobby long enough can lead to a completely different life. This book really highlights the idea that just one seemingly small decision can change the outcome of your whole life.
I also really like how even when she visited her most “successful” lives, how she still had some of the same emotions she experienced in her root life. This just shows that even if you, from the outside looking in, had a highly successful life that it boils down to how you are doing on the inside. This book shows that the idea of success is an impossible standard to be able to judge of other people because you aren’t the one looking from the inside out. You don’t know what people are going through or how they feel about their own lives on the inside. It is not fair to yourself to compare your life to other peoples life on the basis of success.
Success can’t be measured.
